everything you need to know about my art
HOW IS THE ART CREATED?
Digital art is a tricky thing to explain! It usually conjures up thoughts of 'automated' programs or filters but my art is the complete opposite.
All of my digital art is created with hand motion with the mouse - just as if i were holding a pencil. Every single line/shape/curve has been individually drawn and coloured with care. I layer upon layer each element of the art much like brush strokes of a painting until an image starts to appear. Artworks can take days or even weeks to complete.
WHAT IS 'OPEN EDITION' AND 'LIMITED EDITION' PRINT?
'Open edition' artworks are ones that have no limit to the amount of times they are printed and sold. For this reason they are more affordable as they are readily available and won't ever sell out. 'Limited Edition' artworks have a limit of the amount of times they are printed which makes them more special. These artworks are signed and editioned individually (1/30, 2/30, etc).
IS THE ARTWORK SIGNED?
Yes! All my artwork comes signed. The 'open edition' prints have a signature while the 'limited edition' prints have a signature and the edition number. The light artworks are signed/editioned on the front. The dark artworks are signed/editioned on the back of the artwork but also come with an authenticity certificate 'sticker'. This sticker is also hand signed/editioned and can be adhered to the back of the frame after framing.
WHAT IS A FINE ART PRINT?
A "fine art print" is also known as a giclee print or archival print. This means it is printed with the best quality archival inks on to archival card to produce a never-fading, museum quality print that will last a lifetime. It's hard to translate how stunning the prints are via photos on a website - to view these in real life is just amazing with their bright colours, crisp finish and stunning subtle textured card.
TREAT ME WITH CARE!
Fine art prints are extremely delicate and need to be treated with great care. Every single print I produce is looked over thoroughly to ensure there are no imperfections before being carefully packaged and shipped either in a rigid envelope or tube. When you receive your art - depending on the size - it is best to take it direct to a professional framer without taking it out of the tube.
For the smaller sizes that fit in to ready-made frames (8x10in, 11x14in, 16x20in/406x508mm) these can be more easily handled and are safe to take out of the packaging at home in a clean environment. Avoid touching the face of the print AT ALL and just hold by outer edges only. Don't take your print out of the sleeve until it is going straight into a frame. More about framing here.
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED/ WHERE IS THE PRODUCT MADE?
I live in Geelong, Victoria and enjoy working out of my home studio. I have two fine art printers which print the 8x10in, 11x14in and 16x20in/406x508mm sizes and anything bigger gets printed at my local fine art printer in Geelong - so the artwork is 100% printed locally and overseen personally by me or my gorgeous assistant Rose. Together we really enjoy the process of printing and filling your orders as it gives us an opportunity to be involved with every aspect of the 'making' of the art, and see the process through to completion. We put a lot of love and care into every single one of your orders.
