JOURNAL

Forever home underway.

We are renovating! It’s time our little 3-bedroom weatherboard got a makeover - and another level.

I have spent the last six years styling interiors and sets for my artwork photoshoots... but this is a whole new challenge. Instead of sourcing pieces and props to snap for a mere moment, I need to consider form and function of an entire home.

My husband Nick and I have three boys Walter, Arthur and Teddy (currently 9, 7 & 5yrs). The boys are young now, but we have designed this home with three teenage boys in mind - wanting our much-loved home to be a comfortable place for us to settle in as our boys grow up.

Overview.

New kitchen, laundry, main bathroom, powder room and a big new living/dining area with fireplace. We are also adding a level - for a large main bedroom, ensuite and walk in robe. The render is a tad generous (!) we aren't on a big block - we didn't want to lose any of our already small back yard which is why we are going up.

It will be a whole new house with new timber floors, carpet, light fittings, plasterboard, timber windows and fresh paint inside and out. Needless to say we have been renting nearby while this all takes place!

The renovation is well underway with our local boutique builder Gentrify, who are also project managing and taking such great care of our home. Our exciting new floor plan was designed by Bios DBS. Completion estimated to be December 2023.

Goals.

Practical. Comfortable. Warm. Unpretentious. High quality. Considered. Beautiful but also robust enough to house our family of five for the next 10-20 years. We have our family from Queensland visiting often so space is a premium and necessity.

Mood.

We have tried to keep the bones fairly classic with some artful surprises. I love French and Mediterranean vibes but also a rustic, well-travelled feel and I'm throwing it together to hopefully create an artful, character-filled home that reflects our family and personality.

Next.

I'll post stories/site visits/updates more spontaneously on my Instagram. And I'll also keep popping in here with more fleshed out concepts of particular spaces in time. I'm looking forward to sharing this project with you.
